Dining Room Lighting
The light fixture above a dining table is the room’s most visible design decision — it is at eye level when seated, present in every meal, and often the first thing noticed when entering the room. At Lulu and Georgia, the dining room lighting collection brings together chandeliers, linear pendants, single and cluster pendants, and statement fixtures in brass, bronze, rattan, linen, and mixed materials — each chosen for the quality of the light it casts and the way it reads as an object at the center of the room.
What dining room lighting does Lulu and Georgia carry?
The collection includes traditional and contemporary chandeliers in brass and bronze, rattan and natural fiber pendants, linear multi-bulb pendants for long tables, cluster and multi-pendant arrangements, drum shade and fabric fixtures, and statement dining room chandeliers in sculptural forms. Most styles are available in multiple finish options. Hardwired installation by a licensed electrician is required for all ceiling-mounted fixtures.
What size chandelier works over a dining table?
The diameter of a chandelier for a dining room should be approximately one-half to two-thirds the width of the table. For a 36-inch-wide table, a 18–24-inch chandelier; for a 42-inch table, a 21–28-inch fixture. For a rectangular table, a linear pendant or multiple pendants in a line is often more proportionate than a round chandelier. Hang the bottom of the fixture 30–36 inches above the table surface for the standard 8-foot ceiling; adjust higher for taller ceilings.
What bulb type gives the best light for dining?
For dining rooms, warm white LED bulbs in the 2700K–3000K color temperature range produce the most flattering and welcoming light — close to incandescent warmth without the energy draw. Edison-style filament LED bulbs in chandeliers and exposed-bulb fixtures add visual warmth and a warm glow that reads well at dinner. Dimmable bulbs paired with a dimmer switch give the most flexibility: bright for family dinners, low for dinner parties.
