Indoor Planters
A plant without a considered pot is furniture without upholstery — the vessel matters as much as what's in it. At Lulu and Georgia, the indoor planters collection brings together ceramic glazed pots, terracotta planters, woven basket planters with removable liners, concrete and stone vessels, and sculptural planter forms in a range of sizes suited to every plant scale — from a small 4-inch succulent pot to a large 14-inch floor planter for a fiddle leaf fig or palm.
What indoor planters does Lulu and Georgia carry?
The collection includes glazed ceramic planters in matte and glossy finishes, natural terracotta in classic and tapered forms, woven seagrass and rattan basket planters with removable plastic liners, concrete and stone planters in textured finishes, and sculptural and architectural planter forms. Most planters are available in multiple sizes; drainage holes and saucers are noted on each product page — not all decorative planters include drainage.
Do all indoor planters need drainage holes?
Plants need drainage to prevent root rot — but a decorative planter without a drainage hole can work as a cachepot (an outer pot that holds a nursery pot inside it). This approach gives you the aesthetic of a beautiful planter without drilling into glazed ceramic and allows the inner pot to drain into the outer vessel, which you then empty. For any planter used directly (soil in the decorative pot), a drainage hole and saucer are necessary for the long-term health of most plants.
How do I choose the right size planter for my plant?
A planter should be 1-2 inches larger in diameter than the plant's current nursery pot — too small restricts root growth; too large holds excess moisture that can cause rot. When repotting, move up one size at a time rather than jumping to a much larger pot. For large floor plants like ficus, monstera, and palms, a planter in the 12-14 inch range accommodates most mature specimens. A plant that fills its pot visually is more appealing than one that is dwarfed by a planter three times its size.
