Tablecloths + Runners

A tablecloth or runner changes the visual register of a meal — it signals that someone prepared for it, that the table was thought about before food arrived. At Lulu and Georgia, the tablecloths and runners collection spans linen and cotton tablecloths in solid and printed colorways, woven and embroidered table runners, sheer and textured options, and holiday and seasonal styles. Each chosen for material quality and the way they look on a table set for two and a table set for twelve.

What tablecloths and runners does Lulu and Georgia carry?

The collection includes linen and linen-cotton tablecloths in solid, striped, and printed styles; woven and embroidered table runners in a range of widths and lengths; sheer and semi-sheer options for layered table settings; round and rectangular formats; and seasonal and holiday tablecloths. Sizes span 60×84 for a four-person table to 60×144 for a long dining table. Runners are available in standard 72 and 90-inch lengths as well as longer custom-adjacent options.

What size tablecloth do I need?

Standard overhang for a casual table setting is 8–12 inches per side; for a formal setting, 12–18 inches. Add the overhang amount to both the length and width of the table to find the minimum cloth size. For a 36×72-inch dining table with a casual 10-inch drop, you need a 56×92-inch cloth; round up to the next standard size. If the table extends with leaves, buy for the extended size so you're never caught short at a dinner party.

Can I use a table runner instead of a tablecloth?

Yes — a table runner down the center of a bare wood or stone table is a practical and visually cleaner alternative to a full tablecloth. It protects the center of the table from serving dishes without covering the full surface, allowing the table's material to show. Runners also layer well over a tablecloth — a printed runner over a solid cloth adds pattern without requiring new dinnerware. For long tables, two runners end-to-end or a single extra-long runner creates the same effect.
